Expert Guidance on Backflow Safety
We understand that backflow requirements can be complex. Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions about maintaining clean water and meeting local regulations in Summit and Eagle Counties.
Why do I need to test my backflow assembly every year?
Assemblies contain mechanical parts that can wear out or fail over time. Annual testing is required by Colorado law and municipal water providers to ensure the device is still providing the necessary protection against water contamination. For more detailed information on this click here.
Does the water need to be turned off during the test?
Yes, the water must be temporarily shut off at the backflow assembly for roughly 15 minutes during the inspection. We work efficiently to minimize any disruption to your home or business operations.
Who handles the reporting and paperwork for the town?
We do! As certified testers, we submit all inspection results directly to the relevant water purveyor (such as the Town of Frisco or ERWSD) on your behalf, so you don't have to worry about the logistics. We also send you a copy to keep in your personal records.
What happens if my backflow assembly fails the test?
If an assembly fails, we will identify the specific issue and provide an estimate for repairs. We carry a wide variety of OEM parts and can often perform standard repairs immediately to ensure your system returns to compliance. By law we must report your assembly's failure to your water purveyor that same day. Regardless if we are able to make the repair immediately.
Do you give discounted rates for multiple assembly tests on the same property?
Yes, we can give you a discount if you hire us to test multiple assemblies located on the same property or even in the same neighborhood provided we have access to those devices all on the same day, within the scheduled appointment window.
Can your company test backflow assemblies outside of Summit County or Eagle County?
Yes, we can. We are based in Summit County but certified to test anywhere in Colorado. Logistics become the issue as traveling a great distance to conduct only one test is not very efficient. Please reach out to us if you would like to discuss your needs outside of our dedicated service area.
Can your company install a new backflow device?
No. By law only licensed plumbers can remove or install a backflow prevention assembly.
